In 2012 we designed and created a decorative floral arch for the Eden Project in Cornwall. We were approached this year by 3 sisters who wanted to give their mum a unique present for a special birthday. They were inspired by the arch that we had created for the Eden project and commissioned us to create a similar one for their mum. Cecily Robinson has worked on this lovely arch over the summer. It has just been installed and is looking glorious! Talking with Cecily about working on the arch she mentioned the challenges of creating consistent tapers from 40mm round bar at the bottom through to a point at the top. She also enjoyed the contrast of working with solid uprights that form the main structure of the arch alongside creating the fine flowery details that adorn the arch from top to bottom! See here the original arch at the Eden Project and the newly created arch installed in situ. If you are interested in commissioning something like this or similar do get in touch to discuss your idea.
BBC Gardeners’ World were in Bath last week filming the Bath WI garden in Victoria Park as part of a WI Centenary feature. The WI community garden is in the beautiful Botantical Gardens in Royal Victoria Park, Bath. The garden is entirely made up of edible plants and flowers. Happily for us the garden also features an Ironart Lansdown bench. Our benches are all handmade here in our workshops in Larkhall, and this one was handpainted by Nichola Thearle in a subtle Union Jack design.
Pictured sitting on the bench here are BBC’s Rachel De Thame with Kitty, Head Gardener at Bath’s WI. You can catch the epsiode this on BBC iplayer from Friday 11th September at 8.30pm on BBC 2.
We are often asked to supply tables to match our popular Lansdown slatted benches. We offer a range of wrought iron tables, but these are the two table designs that look great alongside the Lansdowns.
Our pretty upright Slatted Top Cafe Table has delicate scroll feet and collaring detail, it’s perfect for a cup of coffee or two in the sunshine.
Our Lansdown Table is a lower and larger design – ideal if you’re entertaining or really want to spread your newspaper out in the garden.
All Ironart garden furniture is galvanized before being painted in a range of pretty colours to offer maximum resistance to the elements (and minimal maintenance). Each piece is hand made to order here in our workshops in Larkhall by our skilled team of blacksmiths. With heartfelt thanks to two of our recent customers for sending these lovely photos of Ironart furniture in situ in their gardens.
The local Bath WI group have a community garden in the beautiful Botantical Gardens in Royal Victoria Park, Bath. The garden is entirely made up of edible plants and flowers. Their concept was designed to inspire people to plant edibles that are not only useful, but beautiful as well. We’re delighted that they have chosen an Ironart Lansdown bench to grace their fantastic garden. The Bath WI had a summer garden party last week in the glorious sunshine – at which the bench was much admired and enjoyed. Our thanks to the ladies of the Bath WI for sending through these pics!

We have a range of furniture styles and garden products available on our website – lead time varies but is usually 4-6 weeks on these pieces. Ironart’s apprentice artist blacksmith James Cuthbertson has been putting his skills to the test alongside the rest of the team on our range of garden furniture this week. We’ve recently received a large order from America for our Lansdown garden benches so the workshop is full of jigs and component parts. He’s been working really hard, has started his apprentice course at Norton Radstock and is off to the National School of Blacksmithing at Hereford next week for the second block of his Design and Forgeworks qualification. James has been here for three months now, he’s slotted into the team seamlessly and is a great asset to the workshop.
We’re delighted to be featured in Folio Magazine this month. Folio focus on Ironart’s wrought iron garden furniture range which can be purchased directly from us via the Ironart website. If you are looking for garden braziers, benches, chairs and tables for your patio or garden this summer, don’t forget to take a look at our collection. Every piece is handmade here in our workshops in Larkhall, Bath and galvanized to ensure a lifetime of enjoyment.
