Happy 50th Ironart!

June 1967Sgt Pepper had just been released, Aretha Franklin’s Respect was at number one, protests against the Vietnam War were at their height … and as the first cash machine appeared on the streets of London, over in Bath a metal workshop called Ironart opened its doors for business.

Sam Chantry, the original owner, made some of the classic Bath ironwork that you see around you today, including railings, gates and balconies at the likes of the Royal Crescent, the Theatre Royal and further afield at Bowood House.  Our very own Luke worked for Chantry as a teenager and sometimes finds himself revisiting the ironwork he helped to install all those years ago.

And 50 years later in June 2017 here will still are, on the same site in Larkhall, doing what we do best – making beautiful bespoke ironwork that will adorn your homes and gardens for another 50 years – at least…

Everything’s coming up roses

Summer is here and everywhere you look the roses are in bloom. We have had a flurry of orders for garden structures since an editorial piece about Ironart’s fruit cages appeared in Gardens Illustrated magazine this month – the most popular being wrought iron rose arches.

Here at Ironart our arches are made from solid mild steel round bar, which is then galvanized before being painted. Unlike a lot of the tubular steel, powder coated look-a-likes you find on the high street, they really are built to last.

If your garden is crying out for one of these, follow this link to the rose arch section of our website, because we’d love to make one for you. (But please note that there is a reasonably long lead-time on these at the moment.)

It’s garden furniture season here at Ironart…

After a beautiful weekend of sunshine here in the West Country it’s no surprise that orders for our hand made wrought  iron garden furniture and structures are starting to flood in. The Ironart team have been beavering away in the workshop these past few weeks making garden benches, chairs, tables, rose arches, pergolas, braziers and fruit cages galore.

We have been making garden furniture and structures for many years now, and have developed a collection of best-selling classic designs with timeless appeal. All our garden furniture and structures are galvanized to give them years and years of enjoyment. They are then painted here in our workshop in the colour of your choice. As ever the Ironart Lansdown benches are proving a real hit with clients and magazine editors – they are super comfortable with a laid-back seating style.

We don’t have a showroom but we usually have a small selection of our furniture here in the yard in Larkhall on the edge of Bath. If you’d like to come and take a look please get in touch before you set off to come and visit.

It’s furniture season!

As soon as Spring appears we always see a dramatic increase in demand for our hand made garden furniture and garden structures, and this year has been no different. The workshop is a hive of activity with the team jigging and forging bencheschairstablesarchesgazebos and garden braziers. If you’re looking for the best quality garden furniture that money can buy… look no further. We have a range of furniture styles and garden products available on our website – lead time varies but is usually 4-6 weeks on these pieces. All our products are galvanized to give them maximum protection against rust corrosion. Pics below show the team at work making a batch of Lansdown furniture for a client in Hertforshire.  If you have any questions about any of our products, or would like some advice about a bespoke item, please get in touch

The roses are in full bloom

Ever thought of installing a rose arch in your garden? Not sure where to buy, or what style would suit the space? We would love to help.

Here is a snap sent to us by a client who commissioned a bespoke metal rose arch a few years ago – with the roses now in full bloom and mature, it looks absolutely stunning.

We offer two standard wrought iron rose arches through our shop – follow THIS LINK to take you there.

If you have something more unusual in mind, maybe with a finial on top, or a pergola or tunnel rather than an arch – take a look at our BESPOKE rose arches. The only limit is your imagination – anything is possible!
