Weathervane restoration, St Mary’s Mudford

We undertook the restoration of a cockerel weathervane at St Mary the Virgin Church in Mudford earlier this year for Sally Strachey Conservation.

Ironart’s Martin Smith, and NHIG blacksmith Paul Ashmore, are pictured removing the cockerel from the church tower earlier in 2013. Paul was on a placement with Ironart through the NHIG (National Heritage Ironwork Group) and worked on this project alongside Martin (also pictured here)

  1. Can you produce weather-vanes to order? We had one that was too lightweight and decrepit – it eventually
succumbed to the last storm and is beyond redemption!
A replacement would be mounted on the gable-end of a bungalow; I envisage a traditional cockerel about a foot tall in black with the points of the compass in
    sans-serif capitals.
Could you give me a quotation to the nearest £10 please?
    Martyn.
