Cast iron latch & handle restoration

We were commissioned to restore an ecclesiastical wrought iron door latch and door handle.
This twisted metal door handle with a tudor rose detail was badly worn. We built it up and repinned it, using cast iron rods for the welding. During the restoration it was carefully sweated in the forge to prevent chill fractures.
The attractive captive latch with a tudor rose detail had a clean break across it. We chased the detail back into the metalwork to disguise the repair.
